The 2023 SummerSlam is the upcoming 36th annual SummerSlam professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event produced by WWE. It will be held for wrestlers from the promotion's Raw and SmackDown brand divisions. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, returning the event to its traditional August slot after the previous year's event was held in July. This will also be the first SummerSlam to be livestreamed on Binge in Australia. This also marks WWE's first event to be held at Ford Field since WrestleMania 23 in April 2007, and the first SummerSlam to be held in Michigan since 1993.

Leati Joseph "Joe" Anoaʻi is an American professional wrestler and former professional gridiron football player. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the SmackDown brand under the ring name Roman Reigns. He is the current and longest reigning WWE Universal Champion in his second reign. He is part of the Anoaʻi wrestling family, which also includes his father Sika Anoaʻi, brother Rosey, and cousins Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Rikishi, The Tonga Kid, and the late Yokozuna and Umaga. Highly regarded by industry veterans, his heel run has been regarded as one of the greatest character arcs of professional wrestling. After playing college football for Georgia Tech, Anoaʻi started his professional football career with brief off-season stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL) in 2007. He then played a full season for the Canadian Football League's (CFL) Edmonton Eskimos in 2008 before his release and retirement from football. He then pursued a career in professional wrestling and was signed by WWE in 2010, reporting to their developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). Under the ring name Roman Reigns, he made his main roster debut in November 2012 alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins as The Shield. In 2022, he became the longest reigning Universal Champion at 581+ days, which is recognized as the sixth-longest world championship reign in the promotion's history. He is also a one-time WWE United States Champion, a one-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion (with Rollins), the 2015 Royal Rumble winner, and the 2014 Superstar of the Year. Upon winning the Intercontinental Championship, he became the twenty-eighth Triple Crown Champion and the seventeenth Grand Slam Champion. Reigns has headlined numerous pay-per-view events, including WWE's flagship event WrestleMania five times (31, 32, 33, 34, and 37). Additionally, Reigns was ranked number one in Pro Wrestling Illustrated's annual PWI 500 list of the top 500 singles wrestlers in 2016. From 2014 onwards, WWE attempted to establish Reigns as their next "face of the company", positioning him as a heroic character, which was met with intense disapproval by audiences and critics. Joshua Samuel Fatu (born August 22, 1985) is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Jey Uso. He is a member of the renowned Anoaʻi family of Samoan professional wrestlers.
Trained since childhood by his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, Fatu debuted in WWE's then-developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in 2010, and wrestled as Jules Uso alongside his twin brother, Jimmy, as The Usos, where they became FCW Florida Tag Team Champions. They were moved to the main roster later that year. While on the main roster, they have been managed by their cousin Tamina Snuka, and Jimmy's wife, Naomi.[7] From July 2021 to June 2023, he was part of the villainous stable The Bloodline with his first cousin once removed and group leader Roman Reigns and his brothers Jimmy and Solo Sikoa.
During his time as part of The Usos, Fatu won the award of holding the record for the longest male tag team championship reign in WWE history at 622 days, which was accomplished in their fifth reign with the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship.[8] They are overall eight-time tag team champions in WWE, capturing the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship three times and winning the Slammy Award for Tag Team of the Year in both 2014 and 2015. In 2017, they won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship on three occasions, followed by a fourth reign in 2019 and a fifth reign in 2021. They are the first team to win both the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Championships and the first team to hold them simultaneously as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.
As a singles professional wrestler, Fatu has won the 2020 Feud of the Year category for his feud with Roman Reigns by the CBS Sports and has won the 2021 André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.[9][10] He would later win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship with Cody Rhodes, marking his fourth reign with the Raw Tag Team Championship and sixth reign with the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. In 2024, he won the Intercontinental Championship, the first singles title of his career.
Cody Garrett Runnels Rhodes is an American professional wrestler and actor. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand. He is also known for his time in All Elite Wrestling , where he was the inaugural and record three-time AEW TNT Champion and also served as an executive vice president. Rhodes rose to prominence during his first tenure with WWE from 2006 to 2016, where he performed under his real name, as well as under the gimmick and ring name Stardust, an overly deep, dramatic, and sparkling spin-off gimmick of his brother's Goldust character. Rhodes has also wrestled for various other notable promotions, including TNA, Ring of Honor, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Outside of wrestling, he serves as a judge on the competition series Go-Big Show, and stars with his wife Brandi Rhodes on the reality show 'Rhodes to the Top'. Rhodes is the son of wrestler Dusty Rhodes and the half-brother of fellow wrestler Dustin Rhodes. After becoming a Triple Crown Champion in OVW, he was promoted to WWE's main roster in 2007 and remained there for nine years, performing under his real name and later under the gimmick of Stardust. During his time with WWE, Rhodes became a two-time Intercontinental Champion and was a prolific tag team wrestler, winning six world tag team championships with four separate tag team partners. Rhodes left WWE after requesting his release in May 2016. After failing to negotiate a new contract, Rhodes relinquished his position as an EVP and he and his wife departed AEW in February 2022. He returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 that April.
Brock Edward Lesnar is an American professional wrestler, former mixed martial artist, amateur wrestler, and professional football player. He is currently signed to WWE and is the reigning WWE Champion in his seventh reign. Regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, he is the only person to hold the primary heavyweight championships in WWE, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Lesnar competed in amateur wrestling for the University of Minnesota, winning the NCAA Division I national championship in 2000. He soon signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, renamed WWE in 2002), rising to industry prominence in 2002 by winning the WWE Championship at age 25, setting the record for the youngest performer to win the championship. In 2004, Lesnar departed WWE to join the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL), but was cut from the team during pre-season. Lopez previously performed under the ring name Tyler Black. Trevor Dean Mann, known by his ring name Ricochet, is an American professional wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) as of August 2024. He previously wrestled in WWE from 2018 to 2024, where he won the WWE Intercontinental, United States, and NXT North American Championships, and was the inaugural WWE Speed Champion.
Outside of WWE, Mann is best known for his tenure with various Japanese promotions such as Dragon Gate (DG) and its American branch Dragon Gate USA (DGUSA), DDT Pro-Wrestling's umbrella brand CyberFight, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). As an actor, Paul's television and film work includes guest appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Bizaardvark, and roles in films The Thinning (2016) and The Thinning: New World Order (2018). Shaun Ricker is an American professional wrestler and actor. He is signed to WWE, performing on the SmackDown brand as a manager under the ring name LA Knight. Ricker is also known for his time with Impact Wrestling (2015–2019, as Eli Drake). Ricker has also worked extensively on the U.S. independent wrestling circuit, and has been signed by prominent promotions like Championship Wrestling from Hollywood (2010–2013, under his real name) and the National Wrestling Alliance (2019–2021, as Eli Drake).
Ricker began his wrestling career in 2003 on the independent circuit. He later joined the then-NWA-affiliated Championship Wrestling from Hollywood (then called either "NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood" or "NWA: Hollywood") in 2010. After leaving CWFH in 2013, Ricker signed a developmental contract with WWE and performed on NXT (then, a minor production with a hybrid, reality TV/wrestling format) as "Slate Randall." WWE released him in 2014. Ricker signed with Impact Wrestling (then called Total Nonstop Action Wrestling [TNA], until rebranding in 2017) in 2015. Ricker found great success in Impact/TNA, holding the Impact Global Championship, the TNA King of the Mountain Championship, and the Impact World Tag Team Championship (with Scott Steiner), once each. Allen Neal Jones, better known by his ring name AJ Styles (also stylized as A.J. Styles), is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand. Styles has worked for the biggest promotions around the world and is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation. He is also known for his time in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA, now known as Impact Wrestling) from 2002–2014 and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) from 2014–2016. He debuted in 1998 and competed for various independent promotions before gaining initial mainstream exposure in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 2001. Styles became widely known after signing with TNA, who described him as "the cornerstone of the company since [its] inception"; he won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship twice, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship three times, and was the inaugural titleholder of the X Division Championship, which he won six times. He is also the first TNA Triple Crown and Grand Slam champion.[5] Styles simultaneously appeared in Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2002 to 2006, where he became the inaugural ROH Pure Champion, and wrestled in NJPW between 2014 and 2016, where he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice. Shinsuke Nakamura is a Japanese professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the SmackDown brand.
Nakamura is known for his time in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he is a former three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, with his first reign coming at the age of 23 years and 9 months; making Nakamura the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion. His other accomplishments within the company include winning the 2011 G1 Climax and the 2014 New Japan Cup, and being the final IWGP Third Belt Champion, the final NWF Heavyweight Champion, and the longest reigning IWGP Intercontinental Champion for his first reign (he formerly held the record for most reigns at five). He is also a founding member and the original leader of the stable Chaos.
Stephen Farrelly (Irish: Stíofán Ó Fearghaile) is an Irish professional wrestler and actor. He is signed to the American professional wrestling promotion WWE, where he performs under the ring name Sheamus (pronounced /ˈʃeɪmʌs/) shortened from his previous ring name Sheamus O'Shaunessy. He currently appears on the Raw brand.
Prior to joining WWE, Farrelly wrestled on the European circuit and was a two-time International Heavyweight Champion during his tenure in Irish Whip Wrestling (IWW).

Kevin Kesar has appeared in many independent wrestling promotions such as Paragon Pro Wrestling, West Coast Wrestling Connection, and Future Stars Of Wrestling, where he won the first championship of his career. He is best known as Kevin Kross and Killer Kross.
As Kross, he debuted on September 6, 2014, in Future Stars of Wrestling's FSW Survival of the Fittest. He teamed with Tito Escondido and The Hell Hounds in an eight-man tag team match, defeating Kid Vegas, Leon Hater, Mike Dalite & Sinn Bohdi. On November 21 at FSW Luck Of The Draw, Kross teamed with The Beast in defeating the tag team of Funny Bone & Sinn Bohdi. Kross wrestled his last FSW match of 2012 on December 19 at FSW Against All Odds in a 20-Man Battle Royal won by Lance Hoyt.
Kross returned on January 24, 2015 at FSW Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser, teaming with The Beast to defeat Kid Vegas & Leon Hater. On April 24 at FSW Turning Point, Kross wrestled Tyshaun Prince to a No Contest finish. On June 5 at FSW 6 Year Anniversary Show, Kross challenged for the FSW Heavyweight Championship held by Brian Cage in a fatal four-way match including Kenny King and Tyshaun Prince. Cage successfully retained the title in this match before meeting Kross again on September 25 at FSW Paid In Full, where lost the Heavyweight Championship to Kross.
He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he performs on the NXT brand as Karrion Kross.
Michael "Mike" Gregory Mizanin is an American professional wrestler, reality television star, media personality, and actor better known by his nickname and ring name The Miz. He is currently signed to WWE where he is the reigning Intercontinental Champion. Mizanin first gained fame as a cast member on MTV's The Real World: Back to New York, which first aired in 2001, and its spinoff series, Real World/Road Rules Challenge. He later entered the fourth season of Tough Enough, a televised competition that would award the winner a WWE contract, and became the first runner-up. Mizanin has also made appearances on television shows including Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Fear Factor, Identity, Ghost Hunters, Dinner: Impossible, Psych and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?. Mizanin trained and wrestled with Ultimate Pro Wrestling and Deep South Wrestling, where he became the first Deep South Heavyweight Champion. Mizanin was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), working in tag team matches and winning the tag team title, the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship, on one occasion. After signing with WWE, Mizanin became host of the annual WWE Diva Search competition in 2006. Following his hosting duties, Mizanin made his wrestling debut in September 2006, as a villain who went undefeated. In 2007, was drafted from SmackDown to the ECW brand, where he formed a partnership with John Morrison, in which the two held both the WWE Tag Team Championship and the World Tag Team Championship. He was drafted to the Raw brand as part of the 2009 WWE Draft, and won the WWE United States Championship on two occasions. He also won WWE Unified Tag Team Championship with The Big Show and the WWE Tag Team Championship with John Cena. In July 2010, he won a Money in the Bank ladder match at the first WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view, earning a contract for a WWE Championship match, which he used in November to win his only WWE Championship. In 2011, The Miz was ranked number one on Pro Wrestling Illustrated's annual PWI 500 list.
Matthew Frederick Riddle (January 14, 1986) is an American mixed martial artist and professional wrestler currently signed to WWE on its NXT developmental brand. A professional MMA competitor since 2008, Riddle made a name for himself by appearing on SpikeTV's The Ultimate Fighter 7.
Early life
Riddle was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania and later moved to Saratoga Springs, New York, where he attended Saratoga Springs High School. He graduated from high school in 2004 and then attended East Stroudsburg University, where he was a member of the wrestling team for two years. After his head coach was fired, Riddle lost his wrestling scholarship and moved to MMA.
Mixed martial arts career
Riddle's main experience comes from high school wrestling. He wrestled at Saratoga High School in upstate New York. There Riddle was a National wrestling Champion and in his Senior year was a New York state wrestling champion. He is 1-0 in amateur MMA.
Riddle worked as a roofer and trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the evenings. Since Riddle had little to no money, he did not train at a gym but in his apartment. Riddle used BJ Penn's book, Mixed Martial Arts: The Book of Knowledge to help him learn.
The Ultimate Fighter
Riddle fought Dan Simmler, an understudy of Matt Serra, to get into the TUF house. Riddle knocked out Simmler in the opening seconds of the second round and struck him three times in the jaw after he had lost consciousness, breaking Simmler's jaw in two places. It was called the biggest knockout in The Ultimate Fighter history by Dana White and the knock out of the century by Quinton Jackson. Riddle was picked second for team Rampage. During the show's taping, Riddle was given the nickname Chipper after Rampage noticed him always smiling.
Peter Thomas England is an English professional wrestler and promoter, currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under the ring name Pete Dunne, where he is a former WWE United Kingdom Champion and NXT Tag Team Champion. Dunne also competed on the independent circuit in Europe, most notably in Progress Wrestling, where he is a former Progress World Champion.

Austin White is an American professional wrestler and bodybuilder. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he performs on the NXT brand under the ring name Austin Theory. Prior to WWE, he wrestled on the independent circuit, including several promotions under the World Wrestling Network umbrella, such as Full Impact Pro (FIP) and Evolve – along the way winning the WWN Championship, FIP World Heavyweight Championship and the Evolve Championship.
Matthew Farrelly is an Australian professional wrestler. He is signed to WWE, where he performs on the SmackDown brand under the ring name Grayson Waller. He is currently in a tag team with Austin Theory as A-Town Down Under where he is a former one-time WWE Tag Team Champion. Before signing with WWE, he previously performed on the independent circuit under the ring name Matty Wahlberg.

Jermaine Haley is an Australian professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Jonah Rock. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he performs in NXT brand under the ring name Bronson Reed. He is best known for his work in Pro Wrestling Noah, as part of The Mighty Don't Kneel.
Jordan Omogbehin is a Nigerian professional wrestler, currently signed to WWE where he performs on the Raw brand under his ring name Big Jordan. Prior to becoming a professional wrestler, Omogbehin was a college basketball player for the University of South Florida and for Morgan State University. His college basketball career spanned from 2012 to 2015. During October 2018, Omogbehin was announced as signed to train for the WWE.
Luke Menzies is an English professional wrestler and former professional rugby league player. He is signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he performs on the NXT brand under the ring name Ridge Holland. He spent the majority of his rugby career with various clubs in the Championship, making one appearance in the Super League for the Hull Kingston Rovers in 2008. He began pursuing a career in professional wrestling in 2016 and signed with WWE in early 2018.
Marcel Barthel is a German professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where he appears on its NXT UK brand. Before signing with the WWE, he spent the beginning years of his career wrestling under the ring name Axel Dieter Jr. He is also a second-generation wrestler as he is the son of German wrestler, Axel Dieter. Professional wrestling career
Independent circuit (2011–2017)
Fabian made his professional wrestling debut on December 12, 2011 for New European Championship Wrestling (NEW). In 2012, Fabian competed in the finals of the NEW World Heavyweight Championship tournament but ultimately did not win the tournament nor the championship. In 2013, Fabian once again reached in the finals of a NEW tournament, this time competing in the Deadline tournament but he once again would not win the tournament; the same would happen in the Deadline tournament in 2014. After his return to the independent circuit following the Crusierweight Classic, Fabian would win the NEW World Tag Team Title Tournament with Mexx.
NXT (2017–present)
On June 5, 2017, it was announced that Aichner had signed a contract with WWE. On June 22, Aichner made his return at a NXT live event in a losing effort against Adrian Jaoude. It was later revealed that Aichner had gained almost 30 lbs of muscle since his appearance in the Cruiserweight Classic. He made his television debut on the September 27 episode of NXT, losing to Kassius Ohno. Aichner had his first televised victory on the November 1 episode of NXT, defeating Johnny Gargano. During the inaugural USA Network broadcast of the December 13 episode of NXT, Aichner challenged for the NXT Championship held by Andrade Almas but was unsuccessful in winning the title.
Trevor Lee Caddell is an American professional wrestler, better known by the ring name Trevor Lee. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he performs on the NXT brand performing under the ring name Cameron Grimes.
He is best known for his time in Impact Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG), where he wrestled under his given names as Trevor Lee. Jordan Devlin (born 15 March 1990) is an Irish professional wrestler. He is currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw brand under the ring name JD McDonagh. He is a member of The Judgment Day stable.

Starting his career in 2009, Uhaa made his breakthrough in 2011, when he was signed by the Dragon Gate USA promotion, which also led to him making his first trip to Japan to work for Dragon Gate. Paul Heyman is an American entertainment executive and performer. He is currently signed to WWE, appearing on the SmackDown brand as Special Counsel for Roman Reigns. Pamela Rose Martinez, better known by her ring name Bayley, is an American professional wrestler. She is currently signed to WWE, where she performs on the SmackDown brand. From 2008 to 2012, she wrestled on the independent circuit under the ring name Davina Rose. She signed with WWE in 2012, and was assigned to the NXT brand where she adopted the ring name Bayley. Gutiérrez is a third-generation professional wrestler, after his father Rey Mysterio and great-uncle Rey Misterio Sr. He has been around wrestling for the majority of his life, thanks to attending WWE events as a child to see his father.
