Originally from Kansas, Sav Rodgers is a filmmaker and screenwriter whose work often centers on telling highly specific, surprising stories about queer people. He is the director/producer of Chasing Chasing Amy, an upcoming feature documentary about the complex legacy of Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy among LGBTQ+ people and the profound, lasting impression on his own life. Sav delivered a TED Talk on the subject titled, "The rom-com that saved my life." His screenplay I Love You, Margot Robbie, co-written with Taylor Gates, was selected for The GLAAD List in 2022. In 2017, Sav graduated from the University of Kansas. He is an alumnus of the Outfest Screenwriting Lab, the Producers Guild of America's PGA Create program, the TED Residency, and the Telluride Film Festival Student Symposium. His short films have screened at festivals like Slamdance, the Cleveland International Film Festival, and the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase. Sav is the Founder and Executive Director of the Transgender Film Center, a nonprofit aiming to help trans creators bring finished films to audiences around the world.

Kevin Willmott (born August 31, 1959) is an American film director and screenwriter, and professor of film at the University of Kansas. He is known for work focusing on black issues including writing and directing Ninth Street, C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America, and Bunker Hill. His The Only Good Indian (2009) was a feature film about Native American children at an Indian boarding school and the forced assimilation that took place. In Jayhawkers (2014), he followed the life of Wilt Chamberlain, Phog Allen and the 1956 Kansas Jayhawks basketball team. Willmott has collaborated with Spike Lee, with whom he shared an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for BlacKkKlansman. The two again collaborated in writing Da 5 Bloods, released worldwide digitally on June 12, 2020.
