Following the suspected suicide of her friend and fellow teacher, Julie Taylor is hired to take over the senior math class for the last few weeks of school. It's been a difficult year for Julie and this is a fresh start for her and her teenager daughter Miya. Though Julie hopes that being both the new kid and the new teacher's daughter won't be too hard on Miya, she can't help but worry when her daughter becomes fast friends with the school's resident mean girl, Amy Turner.

While developing her craft Nia took on many roles in short films, including the four-time nominated short, Small Displays of Chaos. At 14, an age well below the student body average, Nia was invited to join the prestigious Actor's Foundry in Vancouver where for three years she studied under the esteemed Matthew Harrison. Along with Matthew Harrison, Nia's early mentors were the incomparable Dolores Drake and Biz Studio's Michael Bean. Nia also spent five summers at the Bard's Young Shakespeareans honing her craft with performances in The Winter's Tale, among others.

She is also known for voicing Miss Woods in Arthur, Izabella Dehavalot in Amazon Jack, Mrs. Larkin in What's With Andy?, Tubby's mom in The Little Lulu Show, Lucille and Princess Vi in Samurai Pizza Cats, General Jinjur in the 1986 anime The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and Miss Dalee in My Goldfish is Evil. Matthew Alan Taylor is a Canadian film and television storyboard artist and actor. He first worked in the television industry as a commercial camera assistant in Toronto and crossed over into working as an Assistant Director while living in Ireland. He later got his start as a storyboard artist while working on a television show in Toronto. Taylor is also an independent film director and screenwriter.
