During a shootout in a saloon, Sheriff Hunt injures a suspicious stranger. The doctor's assistant, wife of the local foreman, tends to him in prison. He has worked steadily in film and television since the 1980s, mostly in supporting roles. His first major role did not come until the early 2000s, when he portrayed the deceased patriarch Nathaniel Fisher on the HBO funeral drama series Six Feet Under (2001–2005). He is also known for his roles in the films Burn After Reading (2008), Step Brothers (2008), Let Me In (2010), Jack Reacher (2012), and The Cabin in the Woods (2012).
Jenkins was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the drama film The Visitor (2007). Erick was born and raised in Guatemala. As early as 5 years old Erick knew he wanted to be an actor. While growing up in a small village with his grandparents he would reenact scenes from the Soap Operas he had watched with his grandmother the previous night. As a teenager he moved to the United States and got the opportunity to go to college to study business administration. Once in college he enrolled in an intro to acting class and that's where his childhood dream of being an actor was reawakened. After that intro to acting class and with much excitement and fear Erick changed his major to acting. A few years later Erick received his Bachelor's in Fine Arts degree in theater performance from the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Before pursuing acting for the camera Erick had the opportunity to perform for the stage. Some of his favorite roles include Valentin in The Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Marmeladov in an original production of Crime & Punishment. Some notable television credits include Eastbound & Down, The Bridge, Back in The Game and Southland.
That combination of excitement and fear Erick felt when switching majors in college would become a recurring theme in his life as an actor.

His father Robert was a US Army Veteran and served with the famed Tuskegee Airmen in WWII and his uncle is former NY Giant hall of famer Roosevelt Brown. Leiba attended high school in NJ and later moved to Tempe, Arizona where he attended High School. Possessing a 4.3 second 40 yard dash speed and a 44 inch vertical jump he soon got the attention of Arizona State University basketball assistant coaches and Head Football coach John Cooper. He signed with Arizona State under the condition that he be allowed to play both football and basketball for the school. After graduating he went to Spain to play professional basketball for Barcelona EL of the European League where he played a full season. After being waived in his second season Leiba took an invitation to the NFL San Diego Chargers mini-camp where he impressed coaches with his tremendous speed and leaping ability. He made the "Practice Squad" but was soon released when he told head coach Bobby Ross that he wanted to be an actor and could no longer commit to sports. Leiba gained national attention when he won the the TLC'S reality action show Help Wanted, a spin-off of ABC TV'S The Next Action Hero, where competitors compete in acting and stunt roles. Leiba again showed his great athleticism and the guile that he is known for but coupled that with great acting ability.
