David Thewlis
David Wheeler (born 20 March 1963), better known as David Thewlis, is an English actor and filmmaker. He is known as a character actor and has appeared in a wide variety of genres in both film and television. He has received the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor and nominations for two BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Award, Primetime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Thewlis made his film debut in Little Dorrit (1987) and acted in the Mike Leigh films Life is Sweet (1990) and Naked (1993), winning the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor for the latter. He then appeared in films such as Black Beauty (1994), Restoration (1995), James and the Giant Peach (1996), Dragonheart (1996), and Seven Years in Tibet (1997). He became more widely known to film audiences for his roles as Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter franchise (2004–2011) and Ares / Sir Patrick Morgan in Wonder Woman (2017). Other film roles include Kingdom of Heaven (2005), The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008), War Horse (2011), The Theory of Everything (2014), Anomalisa (2015), I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020), and Enola Holmes 2 (2022).
Thewlis' most notable television roles include V. M. Varga in the third season of FX's Fargo (2017), the voice of the Shame Wizard in the Netflix animated sitcoms Big Mouth (2017–present) and Human Resources (2022–present), Christopher Edwards in the HBO miniseries Landscapers (2021), and John Dee in the Netflix drama series The Sandman (2022). His performance in Fargo earned him nominations for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Critics' Choice Award.

She has also appeared in the 2016 miniseries War & Peace, the 2015 film Youth, the 2015 film Blood Cells and a 2013 episode of Black Mirror. In 2015 she also co-starred in the Academy Award winner for Best Live Action Short Film, Stutterer.
Pirrie was raised in Stockbridge, Edinburgh, and attended the Mary Erskine School. She began acting in school and decided to pursue it as a career after being cast in a school production of The Cherry Orchard. She moved to London at the age of 18 to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and graduated in 2009. Pirrie's professional acting career began in 2009. She made her debut at the Royal National Theatre in a 2010 production of Men Should Weep alongside numerous other Scottish actors. Shortly afterwards, she appeared in Solstice, a short film released in 2010. Her first role in a feature film was in Shell (2012), a Scottish drama in which Pirrie played the eponymous main character. In 2015, she starred as Ellie in the Academy Award winner for Best Live Action Short Film, Stutterer. Ellie is the love interest for Greenwood (played by Matthew Needham). Greenwood has a major stuttering problem and can't speak effectively, causing him to panic when Ellie suggests they take what had only been an online relationship, offline to meet in person. After finally giving in, Greenwood learns a secret about Ellie that changes everything.

A seven-time BAFTA Award nominee, she won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Damage. She has also been nominated for seven Golden Globe Awards, winning twice for Enchanted April (1992) and the TV film Fatherland (1994). In 1996, one critic asserted that she is "the greatest actress of our time in any medium" after she appeared in Orlando at the Edinburgh Festival. She is best known for portraying Ada Shelby in the BBC One historical crime drama television series Peaky Blinders, Ann Walker in BBC One and HBO's period drama Gentleman Jack, Vicky Budd in the BBC television series Bodyguard, code-breaker Lucy in the ITV drama series The Bletchley Circle and Labia in the British/American television sitcom Episodes. A pharmacological lecturer and a former concert pianist. He was brought up in Alexandria, Virginia and studied History of Art at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg.
