Kristin has just had to close her small Manhattan clothing boutique to return to her Ohio home town and live in her parents' former home. It's an adjustment for Kristin and her young daughter— especially when she runs into her former high school rival. Kristen and Emily struggle to find their new normal with the help of the hunky local music teacher.

Lacey Nicole Chabert (born September 30, 1982) is an American actress, voice actress and singer. She first gained prominence as a child actress for her role as Claudia Salinger in the television drama Party of Five (1994–2000). She has also provided the voice of Eliza Thornberry in the animated series The Wild Thornberrys (1998–2004) and two feature films, Meg Griffin during the first production season of the animated sitcom Family Guy, and superheroine Zatanna Zatara in various pieces of DC Comics-related media. Kathy Ann Najimy (born February 6, 1957) is an American actress, most notable as Olive Massery on the television series Veronica's Closet, Sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act and the voice of Peggy Hill on the animated television series King of the Hill. Prior to her film work, she was best known for two Off Broadway shows with Mo Gaffney working as the duo Kathy and Mo. One of the shows became an HBO comedy special and garnered Najimy her first nationwide fan base.

Kevin Chamberlin (born November 25, 1963) is an American actor and singer. He is best known for playing Bertram on the Disney sitcom Jessie, as well as his theatre roles such as Horton in Seussical and Uncle Fester in The Addams Family. Chamberlin studied acting at Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and graduated with a B.F.A. in acting in 1985. Chamberlin is openly gay. He has been married to TV writer and producer Michael Gans since 2008, having been together since 1991.
