Christopher Peter Meloni (born April 2, 1961) is an American actor. He is best known for his role as NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler on the NBC police drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit until 2013, and later reprising the role (as a series regular) on the 2021 spinoff series, Law & Order: Organized Crime. Meloni was nominated for the 2006 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Elliot Stabler. He played criminal Jimmy Liery in eight episodes of NYPD Blue during 1996-1997. He also played inmate Chris Keller on the HBO prison drama Oz. In June 2012, he returned to HBO as the vampire Roman on the main cast of True Blood for the series' fifth season. Meloni also starred in and executive-produced the Syfy series Happy! from 2017 to 2019. He then appeared on the third season of The Handmaid's Tale as Commander Winslow in 2019. He is best known for his roles as Murray Bauman in the Netflix series Stranger Things and Martin on the BBC series Fleabag. Gelman began his career as a comedian in the early 2000s. He performed in numerous comedy clubs and improv theaters in New York City. In 2009, he was a writer and performer on the sketch comedy series Eagleheart. He also had a recurring role on the comedy series Another Period. In 2016, Gelman was cast as Murray Bauman in the third season of Stranger Things. His character is a conspiracy theorist who helps the main characters investigate the supernatural events in Hawkins, Indiana. Gelman has since appeared in all four seasons of the show. In 2016, Gelman also starred in the BBC series Fleabag. He played Martin, the boyfriend of the show's main character, Fleabag. Gelman's performance was critically acclaimed, and he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. Gelman has also appeared in numerous films, including The Other Guys (2010), 30 Minutes or Less (2011), and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011). He is best known for his involvement in the sketch and improvisational comedy group Derrick Comedy. Pierson was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended Mountain Pointe High School where he started acting and performing in a short-form improv group. He went on to attend NYU, joining the sketch comedy group Hammerkatz NYU in the fall of 2003. He worked as both assistant director and director during his 3 year tenure with the group. Pierson graduated from NYU's Dramatic Writing Department in 2007 with a degree in writing for television. He also made three brief appearances on NBC's Community, on which his Derrick Comedy costar plays a main character, and Pierson appeared as a Greendale Gazette member. Yakov Naumovich Pokhis (Russian: Яков Наумович Похис; born 24 January 1951), better known as Yakov Smirnoff (Russian: Яков Смирнов; /ˈsmɪərnɒf/), is a Ukrainian-American comedian, actor and writer of Jewish origin. He began his career as a stand-up comedian in Ukraine, then immigrated to the United States in 1977 in order to pursue an American show business career, not yet knowing any English. He reached his biggest success in the mid-to-late 1980s, appearing in several films and the television sitcom vehicle What a Country!. His comic persona was of a naive immigrant from the Soviet Union who was perpetually confused and delighted by life in the United States. His humor combined a mockery of life under communism and of consumerism in the United States, as well as word play caused by misunderstanding of American phrases and culture, all punctuated by the catchphrase, "And I thought, 'What a country!'" The collapse of communism starting in 1989, and the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, brought an end to Smirnoff's widespread popularity, although he continued to perform. In 1993, he began performing year round at his own theater in Branson, Missouri, where he remained until 2015. He occasionally still performs limited dates at his theater in Branson while touring worldwide. Smirnoff earned a master's degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and a doctorate in psychology and global leadership from Pepperdine University in 2019. He has also taught a course titled "The Business of Laughter" at Missouri State University and at Drury University.
