Just three weeks before her wedding, Lola (Greta Gerwig) finds herself suddenly without a partner when her longtime fiance, Luke (Joel Kinnaman), dumps her. With her 30th birthday looming and being forced to re-enter the New York City dating scene, she feels adrift in a cold world. She leans on her friends (Zoe Lister-Jones, Hamish Linklater) for support but, after a series of romantic humiliations, professional blunders and boozy antics, Lola realizes that she alone is in charge of her fate.

Greta Gerwig is an American actress, playwright, screenwriter, and director based in NY. She has collaborated with Noah Baumbach on several films, including Greenberg (2010), Frances Ha (2012), for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination, and Mistress America (2015). Gerwig made her solo directorial debut with the critically acclaimed comedy-drama film Lady Bird (2017), which she also wrote, and has also had starring roles in the films Damsels in Distress (2011), Jackie (2016), and 20th Century Women (2016).
Greta Celeste Gerwig was born in Sacramento, California, to Christine Gerwig (née Sauer), a nurse, and Gordon Gerwig, a financial consultant and computer programmer. She has German, Irish, and English ancestry. Gerwig was raised as a Unitarian Universalist, but also attended an all-girls Catholic school. She has described herself as "an intense child". With an early interest in dance, she intended to get a degree in musical theatre in New York. She graduated from Barnard College in NY, where she studied English and philosophy, instead.
Originally intending to become a playwright, after meeting young film director Joe Swanberg, she became the star of a series of intellectual low budget movies made by first-time filmmakers, a trend dubbed "mumblecore". Gerwig was cast in a minor role in Swanberg's LOL (2006) in 2006, while still studying at Barnard. She then appeared in many of Swanberg's films, and personally co-directed, co-wrote and co-produced one entitled Nights and Weekends (2008). She has worked with good quality directors such as Ti West (The House of the Devil (2009)), Whit Stillman (Damsels in Distress (2011)), or Woody Allen (To Rome with Love (2012)) but success and (international) recognition did not come until Frances Ha (2012), directed by Noah Baumbach, a film she also co-wrote. Both tall and immature, awkward and graceful, blundering and candid, annoying and engaging, Greta has won all hearts in the title role of Frances Ha(liday).
In 2017, she wrote and directed the highly acclaimed, semi-autobiographical teen movie Lady Bird (2017), set in 2002-2003, and starring Saoirse Ronan, Laurie Metcalf, and Timothée Chalamet. In 2011, Gerwig received an award for Acting from the Athena Film Festival for her artistry as one of Hollywood's definitive screen actresses of her generation.
Charles Joel Nordström Kinnaman (born 25 November 1979) is a Swedish-American actor who first gained recognition for his roles in the Swedish film Easy Money and the Johan Falk crime series. Kinnaman is known internationally for his television roles as Detective Stephen Holder in AMC's The Killing, Takeshi Kovacs in the first season of Altered Carbon, and Governor Will Conway in the U.S. version of House of Cards. Hamish Linklater (born July 7, 1976) is an American actor. He is known for playing Matthew Kimble in The New Adventures of Old Christine, Porter Collins in The Big Short, and Clark Debussy in Legion. He is the son of dramatic vocal trainer Kristin Linklater. In 2021, he starred as Father Paul in the Netflix horror miniseries Midnight Mass, for which he received high critical acclaim.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach (/ˈɛbɪn mɑːs ˈbækəræk/) (born March 19, 1977) is an American actor. He is known for his role as restaurant manager Richie Jerimovich in the comedy-drama series The Bear (2022–present), for which he was twice awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in addition to a Golden Globe Award nomination.
Moss-Bachrach has had major television roles on Girls (2014–2017) and NOS4A2 (2019–2020) and appeared in the first season of Andor (2022). In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he has played David "Micro" Lieberman in the first season of The Punisher (2017).
Ebon Moss-Bachrach was born on March 19, 1977, in New York City, the son of Renee Moss and Eric Bachrach, who run a music school in Springfield, Massachusetts. His father was born in Germany to Jewish-American parents.
Moss-Bachrach attended high school at Amherst Regional High School in Massachusetts and graduated from Columbia University in 1999 with a B.A. in English Literature. He initially was an American history major and a music studies major. During his third year of college, he studied abroad in Alicante, Spain, for a semester.
As a child, Moss-Bachrach had a passion for theatre and movies and also loved to read. Some of his favourite authors were Isaac Asimov and Piers Anthony. He spent much of his childhood indoors and described his younger self as an "escapist." In high school, Moss-Bachrach joined the school band and became fond of performing. One of his favourite musical artists was Ornette Coleman.
During his first year of college, Moss-Bachrach took an acting class out of curiosity and quickly became inspired to pursue theater. After the class, he became an apprentice at the Williamstown Theatre Festival to gain some experience in theater. Moss-Bachrach went on to study acting and the Meisner technique at the William Esper Studio in New York City.
Moss-Bachrach had his television breakout playing Desi in the HBO series Girls, which began as a recurring role before he became a series regular in the series' final three seasons. He has subsequently appeared in The Punisher and Andor. For his role in the FX on Hulu series The Bear, he has won two Primetime Emmy Awards.
As of July 2024, Moss-Bachrach is set to portray Ben Grimm/The Thing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025), Avengers: Doomsday (2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).
Moss-Bachrach is married to Ukrainian photographer Yelena Yemchuk, with whom he has two daughters.

Cheyenne Jackson (born July 12, 1975) is an American actor and singer. He started in regional theater when he moved to Seattle, and after moving to New York City, made his 2002 Broadway theatre debut understudying both male leads in the Tony Award-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. In 2005, he originated his first Broadway leading role in All Shook Up earning him a Theatre World Award for "Outstanding Broadway Debut".
