Jack is a children's author turned crime novelist whose detailed research into the lives of Victorian serial killers has turned him into a paranoid wreck, persecuted by the irrational fear of being murdered. When Jack is thrown a life-line by his long-suffering agent and a mysterious Hollywood executive takes a sudden and inexplicable interest in his script, what should be his big break rapidly turns into his big breakdown, as Jack is forced to confront his worst demons; among them his love life, his laundry and the origin of all fear.

Simon Pegg
Simon John Pegg (born 14 February 1970) is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He came to public prominence in the UK as the co-creator of the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced, directed by Edgar Wright. He went on to co-write and star in the Three Flavours Cornetto film trilogy: Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World's End (2013). He and Nick Frost wrote and starred in the sci-fi film Paul (2011).
Pegg is one of the few performers to have achieved what Radio Times calls "the Holy Grail of nerd-dom", playing popular supporting characters in Doctor Who (2005), Star Trek as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott (2009–2016), and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). He currently stars as Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible film series (2006–present), and he played the Chamberlain in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019).

Bernard Cribbins (29 December 1928 - 27 July 2022) was an English character actor, voice-over artist and musical comedian with a career spanning over half a century who came to prominence in films in the 1960s, had been in work consistently since his professional debut in the mid 1950s, and as of 2010 had still been an active performer.
He was particularly known to British audiences as the story-telling voice in The Wombles, a children's programme running which ran for 40 episodes between 1973 and 1975. He also recorded several hit novelty records in the early 1960s and was a regular and prolific performer on Jackanory on BBC TV between 1966 and 1991. Cribbins' most recent prominent role had been as Wilfred Mott, companion of the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who.

Anna Madeley is an English actress. She has been described by the British Theatre Guide's Philip Fisher as one of the United Kingdom's "brightest and most versatile young actresses". She grew up in London and started her career as a child actress. She performed for three seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company and has appeared in three off-West End productions. She has starred in BBC TV films and on Channel 4. Anna has also done work in radio and film.
Madeley grew up in London, attending North London Collegiate School, and began her career as a child actress. She then trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
Madeley has performed three seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company: 2001-2002; and 2003-2004. She appeared in The Roman Actor opposite Sir Antony Sher.
In 2005 she appeared in three off-West End productions (Laura Wade's Colder Than Here, as well as The Philanthropist (directed by David Grindley) and The Cosmonaut's Last Message..., both at the Donmar Warehouse), and rounded off the year starring as both Aaron and Young Alexander Ashbrook in the original Royal National Theatre production of Helen Edmundson's Coram Boy.
In 2006, Madeley starred in two BBC TV films - as the title character in The Secret Life of Mrs Beeton, and in the original drama Aftersun - and the high-profile ITV drama The Outsiders.
In 2007, Madeley appeared in Channel 4's Consent, which combined a dramatised vignette about an alleged date rape with a "real life" sequence in which lawyers and a jury made up of members of the public participated in a trial. In February 2007, Madeley played Nina in a production of The Seagull for a time, when the main actress fell ill.
She was the only cast member to reprise her role in Grindley's 2009 Broadway production of The Philanthropist.
In 2010 she appeared The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister, based on a script by Jane English, and starring Maxine Peake as Anne Lister, a 19th-century industrialist who was Britain's "first modern lesbian" and who kept a detailed journal. The film was shown on the opening night at the Frameline Film Festival at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco in June 2010.
In January 2013 Madeley starred in Hammer Films' first live theatre play, a new stage adaptation of The Turn of the Screw.
In 2016, she played the role of Clarissa Eden in the Netflix series The Crown.
Pamela Cundell was a renowned comic character actor perhaps best remembered for playing Mrs Fox in Dad's Army. Her career stretched as far back as 1948 when she appeared in Brighton Rock as a Pierrot artiste. Other film credits included Half a Sixpence, the big screen spin offs of popular 70s sitcoms On the Buses and Love Thy Neighbour, Memoirs of a Survivor, and A Fantastic Fear of Everything. On TV she appeared alongside comics such as Benny Hill and Barry Humphries, and in dramas such as The XYY Man, Minder, Big Deal, The Borrowers, and Doctors. She was married to actor Bill Fraser from 1981 to his death in 1987.
