Olive, an average high school student, sees her below-the-radar existence turn around overnight once she decides to use the school's gossip grapevine to advance her social standing. She also starred on the short-lived 1998 television series The Love Boat: The Next Wave as "Cruise Director Suzanne Zimmerman". He was born in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. Applegate began his acting career in the early 1960s, appearing in guest roles on such television series as The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. In 1963, he was cast as Richard Harrison on The Patty Duke Show, a popular sitcom about a teenage girl with a split personality. Applegate remained with the show for its entire run, from 1963 to 1966. After The Patty Duke Show, Applegate continued to work in television, appearing in such series as The Wild Wild West, The Monkees, and Happy Days. He also appeared in a few films, including Easy A (2010) and Rain from Stars (2013). In his later years, Applegate retired from acting and moved to Chatsworth, California, where he lived with his common-law wife Betty. He died in 2016 at the age of 81. In addition to his acting career, Applegate was also an active member of the San Fernando Valley Art Club, serving as vice president. He was a talented artist and painter, and his work has been exhibited in several galleries in the Los Angeles area.
