James "Jim" Jacks was an American film producer of several blockbuster films, and was also known for cultivating visionary independent film auteurs, having produced the first Hollywood films of Richard Linklater, Joel and Ethan Coen, and Kevin Smith. Born December 29, 1947, Jacks grew up in a military family.
Nick Dudman and his team created the makeup effects and the magical animatronic creatures ( and the CG scanning models ) in all of the Harry Potter films, garnering BAFTA nominations for the first four in the series, and also for the seventh. The final installment, “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows-Part 2” earned him an Oscar nomination for best makeup as well as another BAFTA nomination. In 2006 Nick Dudman was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2007 he was presented with the Canadian Genie Award for Special Achievement in Makeup for Beowulf and Grendel. Dudman got his start in films working on the Jedi master Yoda, as a trainee to British makeup artist Stuart Freeborn, on the second in the Star Wars series – The Empire Strikes Back. After apprenticing with Freeborn for four years on films such as Superman II and Top Secret!, Dudman was asked to head up the English makeup prosthetics shop for Ridley Scott’s Legend, applying Tim Curry’s “Darkness” makeup amongst others. Subsequently, he has worked on Mona Lisa, High Spirits, Willow, Interview With the Vampire, Batman (creating Jack Nicholson’s Joker) and Judge Dredd among many others. In 1995, his career path widened into animatronics and large scale creature effects when he was asked to oversee the creature department for the Luc Besson film The Fifth Element, for which he won a BAFTA for best Visual Effects. Since then he has supervised the creatures / makeup effects departments on a series of blockbusters including Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. Having completed the ten-year challenge of the Harry Potter franchise, Nick is looking for yet more creative challenges and expanding his role to make most use of his unique experience. His latest work includes Paddington and all three seasons of Penny Dreadful, Showtime’s gothic horror series, which have garnered two BAFTA Craft award nominations for Best Makeup with a win for season one, three EMMY Nominations, one for each season, and two Hollywood Guild of Makeup Artists and Hairdressers nominations for Best Special Effects Makeup. He has also supervised the installation of creatures at The Making of Harry Potter Tour at Warner Bros Leavesden Studios. The Creature Shop section of the tour houses a permanent display of the work created by Nick and his teams over the entire Harry Potter series. His latest finished project is as the Makeup Effects Designer on Seasons One and Two of Legendary’s “Carnival Row”and as Makeup Effects Designer on Seasons One and Two of Sony’s “The Wheel of Time”. In 2013 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the Arts University, Bournemouth, and in 2022, he received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bolton. Brendan James Fraser (born December 3, 1968) is an American-Canadian actor. Fraser had his breakthrough in 1992 with the comedy Encino Man and the drama School Ties. He gained further prominence for his starring roles in the comedies With Honors (1994) and George of the Jungle (1997) and emerged as a star playing Rick O'Connell in The Mummy trilogy (1999–2008). He took on dramatic roles in Gods and Monsters (1998), The Quiet American (2002), and Crash (2004), and further fantasy roles in Bedazzled (2000) and Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008). Fraser's film work slowed from the late 2000s to mid-2010s due to the poor box office performances, and various health and personal problems, including the fallout from a sexual assault committed against him in 2003 by Philip Berk, the then-president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Fraser branched into television with roles in the Showtime drama The Affair (2016–2017), the FX series Trust (2018), and the Max series Doom Patrol (2019–2023). His film career was revitalized by roles in Steven Soderbergh's No Sudden Move (2021) and Darren Aronofsky's The Whale (2022). Fraser's starring role as an obese gay man in the latter earned him critical acclaim and numerous accolades, including the Academy Award for Best Actor, becoming the first Canadian to win this category. John Hannah (born April 23, 1962) is a Scottish actor of film and television. He has appeared in Stephen Sommers' Mummy Series, Richard Curtis' Four Weddings and a Funeral, and Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow. After completing his secondary education, Hannah enrolled at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now known as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) in Glasgow. His time at the academy laid the foundation for his acting career, and he graduated with honors. John Hannah's acting career took off in the late 1980s and early 1990s with notable stage performances, including roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His breakthrough on the big screen came with the critically acclaimed film "Four Weddings and a Funeral" (1994), where he played the endearing and scene-stealing character, Matthew. Born and raised in Minnesota, Stephen Sommers went on to attend St. John’s University before transferring to the University of Seville in Spain. After graduating, he spent the next several years managing rock bands throughout Europe. Relocating to Los Angeles, Sommers enrolled in the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts and spent the next three years earning a Masters Degree in Film Production. Upon writing and directing an award-winning student film, Perfect Alibi, he was granted the opportunity to write and direct his first feature-length motion picture – a story set in the world of high school drag racing entitled Catch Me If You Can. From there, Sommers went on to create such well-known and beloved adaptations as The Adventures of Huck Finn and Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, both for Walt Disney Pictures. He also wrote and executive produced Disney’s adventure film Tom and Huck before returning to the director’s chair for the suspense-thriller Deep Rising. The next year, Sommers wrote, directed and produced the first installment of The Mummy franchise for Universal Studios. That film and its sequel, The Mummy Returns, have grossed over eight-hundred and forty million dollars worldwide. His next monster blockbuster was the action-adventure epic Van Helsing, released in 2004, which did over three-hundred million dollars at the box office. Rachel Hannah Weisz (born March 7, 1970) is an English actress. She is the recipient of various accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a Laurence Olivier Award, a Critics' Choice Award and a BAFTA Award. Weisz began acting in British stage and television in the early 1990s, and made her film debut in Death Machine (1994). She won a Critics' Circle Theatre Award for her role in the 1994 revival of Noël Coward's play Design for Living and she went on to appear in the 1999 Donmar Warehouse production of Tennessee Williams' drama Suddenly, Last Summer. Her film breakthrough came with her starring role as Evelyn Carnahan in the Hollywood action films The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001).
