An outwardly confident but unmarried woman on the verge of her fortieth birthday reflects on her past suitors and the choices she once made while attempting to help her marriage minded niece choose between a number of potential suitors in this tale inspired by the life and letters of Jane Austen. Jane Austen is about to turn forty, but she still hasn't found her ideal man. When Jane is approached by her niece Fanny and asked to help select the perfect husband for the young girl, the aging spinster begins to wonder why it is that she never found a man to share her own life with. Perhaps if Jane had accepted the proposal of a wealthy landowner she could have saved her family from financial ruin, and what of the handsome young physician who once warmed to Jane after tending to her ailing family members?

Olivia Haigh Williams (born 26 July 1968) is a British actress who has appeared in British and American films and television. Williams studied drama at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School for two years followed by three years at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Her first significant screen role was as Jane Fairfax in the British television film Emma (1996), based on Jane Austen's novel.
She made her film debut in 1997's The Postman, followed by Rushmore (1998) and The Sixth Sense (1999). Williams also acted in the British films Lucky Break (2001), The Heart of Me (2002) and An Education (2009). She continued acting in films such as The Ghost Writer (2010), Hanna (2011), Anna Karenina (2012), Hyde Park on Hudson (2012), Maps to the Stars (2014), Victoria & Abdul (2017), and The Father (2020).
From 2017 to 2019, she played Emily Silk in the science fiction television series Counterpart. In 2022, Williams portrayed Camilla Parker Bowles in the Netflix historical drama The Crown in its fifth season, a role she is set to reprise in its sixth and final season.

Pip Torrens (born June 2, 1960) is an English actor. He studied English Literature at Trinity College, Cambridge. His television appearances include Consenting Adults, two episodes of Doctor Who ("Human Nature"/"The Family of Blood"), Green Wing,Silk, The Government Inspector (as John Scarlett), The Last Detective and DI Torrens for a few episodes in The Bill in 2001. He has also appeared in a 2008 series of UK television advertisements for First Direct, with Matthew King. In 2011, he appeared in both episodes of an Outnumbered two-part special. In 2012 he appeared in the first episode of series 8 of Hustle and presented new gameshow The Devil's Dinner Party. Samuel Roukin (born 15 August 1980) is an English actor. Roukin was born in Southport, and currently lives in Kentish Town, North London. He displayed an interest in drama from an early age. After completing secondary school at Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby where he was involved in many school productions and where he now returns to give acting workshops to the pupils involved in drama and English, he went on to train at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, graduating in 2003. Roukin finished filming Bright Star, directed by Jane Campion and based on the three-year romance between 19th century poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne, which was cut short by Keats' death at age 25. Roukin starred in the 2008 hit film Happy Go Lucky as the main character's (Poppy, played by Sally Hawkins) love interest. According to the review on The Independent website by Jonathan Romney, ( Poppy ) "Realising one of her pupils is unhappy, she takes action that results in her meeting a simpatico social worker (Samuel Roukin), leading to possibly the single most convincing, no-nonsense, outright charming flirtation scene I've seen in cinema." The film directed by the multiple award winning Mike Leigh won a host of nominations and awards worldwide for the film. Roukin played a Snatcher in the two-part finale of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I & Part II. He was recently interviewed by DemonFM in Leicester about his current stage work. ITV's recent two part drama DCI Banks - Aftermath featuring Stephen Tompkinson had Samuel playing the lead villain in a prime time mini series that was watched by over 5.5 million viewers.

Adrian Edmondson was born in Bradford, Yorkshire. He went to Manchester University to study drama. Whilst he was there he met Rik Mayall, and the pair began performing as 20th Century Coyote. The act continued after university when Adrian & Rik moved to London, and they became two of the leading lights in the new 'alternative comedy' scene, performing at the newly established Comedy Store, and setting up their own club, The Comic Strip, with 'Peter Richardson', Nigel Planer, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French, and Alexei Sayle. This spawned two 1980s TV series: The Young Ones (1982), and The Comic Strip Presents... (1982) In the 1990's Ade & Rik continued their partnership with a new series called Bottom (1991), which ran for three seasons and became a major success on the live circuit. It was basically a live sitcom, liberally sprinkled with slapstick humour, and the pair did 5 long tours between 1993 and 2003. Simultaneously, Adrian established himself as an actor, doing two improvised TV films under the Screen One and Screen Two umbrella, with director Les Blair: Screen Two: Honest, Decent and True (1986), and Screen One: News Hounds (1990) (winner of the BAFTA for best single drama). He was a regular in the hospital drama Holby City (1999) from 2005 - 2008. He took the lead in a drama documentary about the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster in the series Surviving Disaster (2006), and appeared as Henry Austen in the TV movie Miss Austen Regrets (2008), the film Blood (2012), and the drama series Prey (2014). But his most notable dramatic role to date is that of Count Rostov in the BBC series War & Peace (2016).
