Set in Paris in 1919, biopic centers on the life of late Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, focusing on his last days as well as his rivalry with Pablo Picasso. Modigliani, a Jew, has fallen in love with Jeanne, a young and beautiful Catholic girl. The couple has an illegitimate child, and Jeanne's bigoted parents send the baby to a faraway convent to be raised by nuns.

He first rose to prominence acting in Brian De Palma's The Untouchables (1987) alongside Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Robert De Niro. He continued to act in films such as Stand and Deliver (1988), and Internal Affairs (1990). He then costarred in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather Part III (1990) as Vincent Mancini, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
In 2000, he produced and acted in the HBO television film, For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000), where he received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award nominations. In 2005, he won a Latin Grammy for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album for producing Cuban musician Cachao's record Ahora sí.
Elsa Zylberstein (born 16 October 1968) is a French film, TV, and stage actress. After studying drama, Zylberstein began her film career in 1989. She won the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for I've Loved You So Long (2008).

Susie Amy was born in London in 1981, and brought up in Surrey. Although she always studied drama, she went to academic schools all her life. An agent spotted her in 1999 when she was doing a play at the National Theatre in London - 'After Juliet' by Sharman McDonald. Over the next two years she got parts in "Sirens" (2002), the sitcom 'Sam's Game', 'The Swap' and 'My Family'.
In 2001, at the age of 20, she got her first big break when she was chosen to play 'Chardonnay Lane' in ITV drama Footballers' Wives (2002), which became one of the most talked about shows on TV.
In 2002, after filming a second series of Footballers Wives, she was chosen for the lead role of 'Valentine D'Artagnan' in the Hallmark Production La Femme Musketeer (2004), starring alongside Michael York, Gérard Depardieu and Nastassja Kinski. For the role she had to train in martial arts, fencing and horse riding, which she is said to have loved.

He portrayed the twelfth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who and Malcolm Tucker the spin doctor in The Thick of It, for which he has received four British Academy Television Award nominations, winning Best Male Comedy Performance in 2010. When he reprised the role in In the Loop, Capaldi was honoured with several film critic award nominations for Best Supporting Actor. In 2012, Capaldi wrote (with Tony Roche), directed and performed in The Cricklewood Greats, an affectionate spoof documentary about a fictitious film studio, which tracks real developments and trends throughout the history of British cinema. Film roles include Oldsen in Local Hero, Angus Flint in Ken Russell's The Lair of the White Worm, and Mr Curry in Paddington and its sequel, Paddington 2. As a director, Capaldi won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film and the BAFTA Award for Best Short Film for his short film Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life.
