He is known for his portrayal of Dr. Joel Fleischman on Northern Exposure (1990-1995), a role that garnered him three Golden Globe and two Emmy nominations for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series. Aside from that, Morrow is also known for his role as Ben in the film Private Resort (1985), his role as Richard Goodwin in the film Quiz Show (1994) and his role as FBI agent Don Eppes on the television series, NUMB3RS (2005-2010).

During the 2003-04 television season, the hardworking Culp successfully juggled recurring roles on an unheard of four series at one time: on CBS's JAG (1995) (as CIA Agent Clayton Webb), NBC's The West Wing (1999) (as GOP Speaker of the House Jeff Haffley), NBC's long-running hospital drama ER (1994) (as schoolteacher Dave Spencer), and on UPN's futuristic series Star Trek: Enterprise (2001) (as MACO commander Major Hayes).
