CSS Hunley tells the incredible true story of the crew of the manually propelled submarine CSS Hunley, during the siege of Charleston of 1864. It is a story of heroism in the face of adversity, the Hunley being the first submersible to sink an enemy boat in time of war. It also relates the human side of the story relating the uncommon and extaordinary temperament of the 9 men who led the Hunley into history and died valiantly accomplishing this feat.

Donald McNichol Sutherland (July 17, 1935 – June 20, 2024) was a Canadian actor whose film career spanned over 6 decades. He was nominated for eight Golden Globe Awards, winning two for his performances in the television films Citizen X (1995) and Path to War (2002); the former also earned him a Primetime Emmy Award. An inductee of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Canadian Walk of Fame, he also received a Canadian Academy Award for the drama film Threshold (1981). Multiple film critics and media outlets have cited him as one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination. In 2017, he received an Academy Honorary Award for his contributions to cinema. Alexander "Alex" Jennings (born 10 May 1957) is an English actor, who has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre. A three-time Olivier Award winner, he won for Too Clever by Half (1988), Peer Gynt (1996), and My Fair Lady (2003). He is the only performer to have won Olivier awards in the drama, musical and comedy categories. He played Prince Charles in the 2006 film The Queen. His other film appearances include The Wings of the Dove (1997), Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), Babel (2006) and The Lady in the Van (2015). Michael Dolan is an American actor and director. He was born on 21 June 1965 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. He has many TV and movie credits to his name, which include Necessary Roughness, Biloxi Blues, Hamburger Hill, The Turning, Courage Under Fire, Lolita, three episodes of I'll Fly Away, one episode of The Outer Limits, and two episodes of Law & Order.
He wrote and directed the short film Arrow Shot that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and was broadcast on the Independent Film Channel, and also on many Canal + stations in Europe. He is currently teaching at St. Stephen's Episcopal School (Austin, Texas).
His first feature film, Dance with the One, is currently in post-production.
