In Sydney, the newly married Midori is honeymooning with her husband, Yukio. She does not love him and fakes her own kidnapping to escape the marriage. Her lover is supposed to meet her, but fails to appear. She goes to a bank to get some cash, only to become a hostage in an unfolding robbery, until the getaway driver, Colin, saves her from his fellow robbers. They hit the road together, with the cops, her husband and the robbers in pursuit.

Russell Ira Crowe (born 7 April 1964) is an Academy Award-winning actor. He was born in New Zealand, spent ten years of his childhood in Australia, and moved there permanently at age 21. Colin James Hay (born 29 June 1953) is a Scottish-Australian musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. He came to prominence as the lead vocalist and the sole continuous member of the band Men at Work, and later as a solo artist. Hay's music has been used frequently by actor and director Zach Braff in his work, which helped a career rebirth in the mid-2000s. Hay has also been a member of Ringo Starr's Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band.
Hay has made appearances in movies such as Cosi (1996) and in television shows such as The Larry Sanders Show, JAG, The Mick Molloy Show, A Million Little Things, and Scrubs. In Scrubs he performs an acoustic version of the Men at Work hit "Overkill". His music also appeared in television series What About Brian, The Black Donnellys, Cane, and the BBC medical drama Casualty.

Susan Prior is an Australian actress. She won the 2014 AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in The Rover and was nominated for the 2012 AACTA Award for Best Guest or Supporting Actress in a Television Drama for Puberty Blues. She was twice nominated for the Helpmann Award for Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play, in 2008 for Riflemind and in 2014 for Small and Tired.
Norman James Kaye (17 January 1927 – 28 May 2007) was an Australian actor and composer. He was best known for his roles in the films of director Paul Cox.
As an actor, he was strongly associated with the films of Paul Cox, appearing in 16 of them. He had small roles in Cox's Illuminations (1976) and Kostas (1979), and shared the lead with Wendy Hughes in Cox's 1982 film Lonely Hearts and the lead in Man of Flowers (1983), for which he won an AFI Award.
Norman Kaye was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease prior to 1997. His inability to memorise scripts for the film Innocence led to the end of his collaboration with Paul Cox, as well as the end of his career in 2004. Kaye was in the advanced stage of the disease at the time of his death in Sydney on 28 May 2007. He had enjoyed a 35-year relationship with the opera director Elke Neidhardt, and she was at his side at his death.
