David Beecroft (born April 26, 1955) is an American actor noted for his television appearances, having played both regular and recurring roles in shows such as Falcon Crest (as Nick Agretti), Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and Melrose Place. He has also been a regular on the daytime soap operas One Life to Live as Trent Chapin (1985–1986) and All My Children in 1999-2001. He played the serial killer in 1990's The Rain Killer.
He is a 1974 graduate of W. T. White High School in Dallas, Texas.
His brother is former actor Gregory Beecroft, famous for three popular soap opera roles: Guiding Light's Tony Reardon (1981-1985); Brock Lombard on As the World Turns (1988-1989); and the short-lived recast of Duke Lavery on General Hospital (1989–1990).

He is best known for his role as Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Detective Vic Mackey on the FX police drama The Shield (2002–2008), for which he won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2002 and was nominated in 2003.
Other starring television roles of his include Commissioner Tony Scali on the ABC police drama The Commish (1991–1996), Chris Woods in Daddio (2000), Jim Powell on the ABC science-fiction comedy-drama No Ordinary Family (2010–2011), Vincent Savino in the CBS crime drama Vegas (2012), Dell Toledo in American Horror Story: Freak Show (2014), and Nathaniel Barnes in Gotham (2015–2017). In film, he is best known for his roles as The Thing in two Fantastic Four films (2005–2007), George Callister in Eagle Eye (2008), Terry Eidson in When the Game Stands Tall (2014), and Father Dave in Hubie Halloween (2020).

In addition to filmmaking, Chris has acted in several independent films, television projects (Twin Peaks) and a handful of Hollywood stage plays. Chris is a native of Los Angeles and got his start at Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine and Roger Corman's Concorde Pictures before making the leap into independent films.
