Adapted from a story by Truman Capote ("In Cold Blood"), the world of the prison convict is open to the viewer. As the story develops, one thing becomes clear. As in the outside world, there is a "system"; and just as on the outside, there is accommodation, honesty, cynicism, violence and all the other factors that make up our society. The film follows the three newcomers, it records the grim, terrifying, sometimes fascinating events that occur.

Victor "Vic" Morrow (February 14, 1929 – July 23, 1982) was an American actor, whose credits include a starring role in the 1960s TV series Combat!, prominent roles in a handful of other television and cinema dramas, and numerous guest roles on television. He and two children died when a stunt helicopter crashed on them during the filming of Twilight Zone: The Movie.

Clu Gulager (November 16, 1928 - August 6, 2022) was an American television and film actor. He is particularly noted for his co-starring role as William H. Bonney (Billy The Kid) in the 1960–62 NBC TV series The Tall Man and for his role in the later NBC series The Virginian. He also appeared in the racing film Winning (1969), with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, and was the protagonist, Burt, in the horror movie The Return of the Living Dead (1985).

William December "Billy Dee" Williams Jr. (born April 6, 1937) is an American actor, voice actor, and artist. He is best known as Lando Calrissian in the Star Wars franchise, first in the early 1980s, and nearly forty years later in The Rise of Skywalker (2019), marking one of the longest intervals between onscreen portrayals of a character by the same actor in American film history.

Scott Hylands is a Canadian stage, film and television actor, best known for playing Detective Kevin 'O. B.' O'Brien on the television police drama series Night Heat from 1985 to 1989. He's a graduate with a BA in Theatre and English from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, in 1964. After moving to the USA, he became one of the original company members of the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, California, appearing in over 20 productions. Over the next 15 years, he accumulated an impressive and long list of credits in Los Angeles based film and television as well as a strong profile in the theatre community, appearing often at the Mark Taper Forum, the Los Angeles Shakespeare Festival, and Theatricum Bottanicum. He returned to Canada in 1981, kept working in theatres across Canada, and appeared in innumerable film and television projects.
Roy Jenson was born on February 9, 1927 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is known for his work on Chinatown (1974), Soylent Green (1973) and Harper (1966). He was married to Marina Petrova and Barbara Dionysius. He died on April 24, 2007 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Alan Richard Vint (November 11, 1944 - August 16, 2006) was an American character actor.
Vint was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He appeared in a number of supporting roles during the 1970s in films such as The Panic in Needle Park (1971) Badlands (1973), Macon County Line (1974), and Earthquake. He also made guest appearances on such television series as Police Story, Emergency!, Hawaii Five-O, Adam-12, Lou Grant and Baretta.
Vint appeared in several films with his brother Jesse Vint. He was married to Susan Mullen and had three daughters - Kelly, Kate and Megan Vint also actors. Vint and Mullen eventually divorced.
Alan Vint died in Sherman Oaks, California on August 16, 2006 of an unknown illness that caused all of his major organs to fail. Variety reported the cause of death as pneumonia

Luke Askew (born 1932 in Macon, Georgia, U.S.) is an American actor best known for his role in the 1969 film Easy Rider.
Askew was born in Macon, Georgia. He made his film debut in Otto Preminger's Hurry Sundown (1967), but was first noticed as an actor for his role in the 1967 film Cool Hand Luke. He was one of the first actors daring to wear long hair in this era, which he had to hide under a hat during the filming of this movie. The next year he worked with John Wayne in The Green Berets (with his hair cut short). The following year he worked with Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda in Easy Rider. This film set him on the road to becoming a cult figure of modern cinema.
Askew has continued to work as an actor since then, predominantly appeared as an actor on television series. This includes work on such series as: Bonanza, Mission: Impossible, The Rockford Files, The Six Million Dollar Man, T. J. Hooker, L.A. Law, MacGyver,Walker, Texas Ranger and HBO's Big Love. He has appeared frequently with Bill Paxton.
He also took part in Easy Rider: Shaking the Cage (1999), a documentary about the making of the film on the Easy Rider DVD.[1] Askew sang Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Jimmy Reed songs at The Gaslight Cafe. According to Bob Dylan, Luke, when he sang at The Gaslight Cafe, was a "guy who sounded like Bobby Blue Bland"
