Miles was born in Nice, France, the daughter of Jeanne Miles, an American painter, and Johannes Schiefer, a French painter art curator. She immigrated to the United States, and was naturalized a citizen, in 1941. She was a graduate of The Putney School, a progressive independent high school in Putney, Vermont in 1958. Miles won the two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of Laura Wingfield in the 1973 production of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie: Best Supporting Actress in Drama (for a Special - Program, a One-Time Appearance in a Series - or a Continuing Role) and Supporting Actress of the Year. She has also played supporting roles in various television shows and movies, including Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, (1990) and Star Trek: The Next Generation. She is known to Star Trek fans as Perrin, Sarek's wife, from the episodes Sarek and Unification. In 2001, she had a secondary role as the wife of a storekeeper in Tom Selleck's Turner Network Television Western film, Crossfire Trail. Lois Arlene Smith (née Humbert; born November 3, 1930) is an American actress. She made her film debut in the 1955 drama film East of Eden, and later played supporting roles in a number of movies, including Five Easy Pieces (1970), Resurrection (1980), Fatal Attraction (1987), Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), How to Make an American Quilt (1995), Dead Man Walking, Twister (1996), Minority Report (2002), The Nice Guys (2016) and Lady Bird (2017). In 2017, Smith received critical acclaim for her leading performance in the science-fiction drama film Marjorie Prime, for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards and Saturn Award, and well as won Satellite Award. Smith also has had many roles on television, both daytime and prime time. She was regular cast member in the HBO horror drama True Blood, and well as received Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series nomination for The Americans. Smith also is known for her extensive work in the theatre, receiving two Tony Award nominations for originating the role of Ma Joad in The Grapes of Wrath (1990) and for the role of Halie in a revival of Buried Child in 1996. She also starred in an acclaimed Off-Broadway revival of The Trip to Bountiful in 2005 for which she received an Obie Award for Best Actress, an Outer Critics Circle Award, a Lucille Lortel Award, and a Drama Desk Award. Sydney Walker was an American character actor of stage and screen and voice artist, with a career that spanned over five decades. He is most known for Prelude to a Kiss (elderly man Meg Ryan's character switches bodies with), and as the bus driver on Mrs. Doubtfire. Walker made his Broadway debut as the Archbishop of Canterbury in the famous 1960 production of Jean Anouilh's "Beckett," which starred Laurence Olivier and Anthony Quinn. He subsequently appeared in 22 Broadway productions from 1960 to 1973. Walker made his movie debut in the Kirk Douglas movie A Lovely Way to Die (1968) and played the doctor in Love Story (1970). He made five appearances on the CBS Radio Mystery Theater in 1974. His last film was Getting Even with Dad (1994), but his most famous movie role came two years earlier in the film adaptation of Prelude to a Kiss (1992), in which he reprized the role of the Old Man he had assayed in the 1988 Berkeley Repertory production of the Craig Lucas play.
